To support the aquaculture sector, the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources (MoAFWR) signed a cooperation agreement with the British Centre for Environment, Fisheries and Aquaculture Science (Cefas) on Tuesday.
The agreement was signed by H E Eng Yaqoub bin Khalfan al Busaidi, Undersecretary for Fisheries in MoAFWR, and Tim Green, deputy CEO, Cefas.
The agreement aims to establish a management system for the health of cultured organisms and to ensure the continuity of aquaculture projects in the sultanate.
It includes training and qualifying researchers and providing them with technical skills through practical training to meet the needs of the aquaculture sector in the fields of aquatic organism health, risk analysis and management, in addition to managing aquaculture data and linking it to international standards.
